There is a provision in the Apprentice Act, 1961 for providing on the job training to the youths on the production lines in the Industrial Units / Factories. Theoretical inputs in some trades are provided on weekly basis at this institute. The recruitment of Apprentices is taken up twice a year i.e. from 1st February to 15th April and 1st August to 15th October.

At the end of apprenticeship training, National level examinations are held and National Apprentice Certificates are issued to the successful apprentices. These certificates are recognized in other countries too.
